Restoration of lowland heath: Common land
within the village, previously grazed with cattle,
had become overwhelmed with willow scrub.
Following scrub removal and the distribution of
seed bearing material from neighbouring heath, a
mosaic of heath and flower rich acid grassland
has been restored. Regular cutting and removal of
arisings maintains the heath communities. The
area also supports common lizards and slowworms
and is rich in invertebrates.
